Abstract
A survey is given on some applications of broadband acoustical spectrometry of liquids, with particular emphasis on aqueous systems. Various relaxation phenomena occurring in the frequency range between about 10 kHz and 10 GHz are discussed in the light of elementary molecular processes, including thermoelastic and viscoinertial effects, conformational isomerizations, associations, ion-molecule complexations, and precritical concentration fluctuations.
