Structural aspects and molecular dynamics of liquid polymers, including mixtures with water

Abstract
Acoustical attenuation spectra, measured between 100 kHz
and 2 GHz, are reported for liquid polyethylene glycol and polyethylene
glycol dimethylether samples with different lengths of the molecules. For
one polyethylene glycol the effect of different amounts of added water upon
the spectra is also considered. The spectra reveal two principal relaxation
regions. Suitable analytical descriptions of these relaxations are presented
and the parameters of the relevant functions are briefly discussed in the
light of structural and conformational isomerizations of the polymers.
