Abstract
The onset of shear band in FCC crystalline material is discussed by perturbation method with
crystal plasticity theory. The critical condition can be calculated after the perturbation distribution ratio is
evaluated numerically. Latent hardening can be included in the formulation. The shear band prediction
routine is implemented in finite element polycrystal model. Plane strain tension after pure shear is analysed
in single crystal. The results show the effects of crystal orientation and latent hardening on the occurrence
of shear band.
