Abstract
A quantitative comparison between molecular dynamics and particle-in-cell simulations for strongly coupled plasmas is performed. While the particle-in-cell simulation's nonlinear potential solver produces a significant improvement in accuracy over molecular dynamics, the requirement for many grid cells between particles (in the strongly coupled regime) causes the particle-in-cell simulation to be prohibitively expensive.
