Evidence for a threshold force for displacement transverse to current for 2-D Wigner solid in a disorder field

Abstract
Our measurements of the Hall effect in the sliding regime of the magnetically induced quantum Wigner solid at GaAs/GaAlAs heterojunction shows it to appear only beyond a threshold in current. This threshold is proportional to the threshold force required to induce sliding. It can be understood as a minimum Lorentz force for displacing the charge solid perpendicular to its current channels in the random field, as suggested theoretically for the superconductor vortex system by Giamarchi and Le Doussal.
