Abstract
Curved wave corrections to the Debye-Waller factor are discussed. Starting from a general expression characterized by an operator J(u) different approximations are compared as used for LEED, XAFS and PED, respectively. The results depend on the way to include correlations between the movement of different atoms and on the method to evaluate the application of the operator J. The evaluation may be simplified for a restriction on single scattering contributions. The corrections may be included into the scattering matrix or they appear as additional expressions. Special care has to be taken of PED where a square of a multiple scattering expression has to be considered.
