XANES Study of the Charge Transfer upon Lithium Intercalation into Lamellar Transition Metal Dichalcogenides

Abstract
XANES S K- and ELNES Ti L2,3-edges of TiS2 and LiTiS2 are studied by means of multiple scattering simulations and band structure calculations. Semi-metallic nature of TiS2 is clarified as well as the important role of sulfur, which was before this work believed to be a spectator in the intercalation process.
