Abstract
Shock experiments on Lead-Calcium alloy have been performed in order to generate spalling under Taylor's wave loading. The influence of Pb3Ca precipitates, created by metallurgical transformations at grain boundaries, was investigated with experiments on targets with ageing from 6 to 28 months. Shock generation was realized by plate impact for high velocities experiments. A first analysis of metallurgical observations of nucleation sites is presented in this article with the comparison between experimental velocities measurement (VISAR and DLI) and numerical ones obtains using a Johnson's criterion to describe nucleation and growth of damage.
