Monomer exchange and critical dynamics of nonionic surfactant/water systems
J. Haller and U. KaatzeDrittes Physikalisches Institut, Georg-August-Universität, Bürgerstr. 42-44, Göttingen, Germany
Abstract
Ultrasonic attenuation spectra between 100 kHz and 2 GHz
are discussed for various C
/water mixtures. A relaxation term
representing the monomer exchange of the micellar solutions, another one
reflecting the local fluctuations in amphiphile concentration, and
additional terms due to elementary molecular processes such as
conformational isomerizations are identified. Parameters of these terms are
briefly discussed and indications are presented for a fluctuation controlled
monomer exchange mechanism.
