Abstract
In this paper, measurements of trace gas emitted by ceramic industry are considered. The ceramic industry plays a remarkable role in the economy activity of Campos dos Goytacazes city, located in the northern of Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil. In recent years, this region developed into a significant red ceramic complex. The potential impact on the atmospheric environment of the region due to gaseous pollutants emissions from these anthropogenic sources needs to be monitored. The emission of CO, CO2, NH3, and CH4 gases was detected in a regional well-established ceramic industry firing process. The concentration gases inside the kiln for the whole gases are higher than that predicted by international rules for health and environmental impact. On the other side, in relation to the emissions that leave from the chimney, only the CO gas level (40 ppm) is higher than the concentration depicted in the table (25 ppm).
