Abstract
Stress induced martensitic transformations in Cu-AI-Ni single crystal and Cu-AI-Zn-Mn polycrystal at room temperature were
studied by an acoustic emission (AE) method. Based on the knowledge of AE signal level characteristics of individual transition
processes obtained on single crystals, the AE data of Cu-Al-Zn-Mn polycrystal loaded in tension/compression are discussed.
The AE method can be used for nondestructive in-situ recognition of the various transformation processes in thermomechanically
loaded shape memory alloys.
