Abstract
The defect evolution reveals the self-similarity of damage-failure transitions induced by dissipative structures with blow-up
damage kinetics for failure hotspots and auto-solitary waves for adiabatic shear bands. The variety of crack dynamic scenario
is linked with the excitation of damage localization scales, which subject the crack behavior in post-critical regime and
provide stochastic (branching) crack dynamics. Experimental study of crack dynamics was carried out in the preloaded plate
PMMA specimen using the high-speed digital camera (REM 100-8) coupled with photo-elasticity method, the point stress recording
with a laser system, the failure surface roughness measurement.
