Abstract
The paper presents the most important key dates of the history and the development of the Frequency
Domain Methods in Experimental Modal Analysis. First, the mathematical foundations are discussed, then the Phase
Resonance Method is presented, and finally the different algorithms of Frequency Domain Phase Separation
Methods are considered. They start with the SDOF Methods followed by the MDOF Methods in the form of Forced
Response Modal Methods and FRF Modal and Polynomial Methods, completed by the recent developments and
trends of Frequency Domain Modal Identification Methods.
