Abstract
Ar has been condensed from the vapor into Vycor glass with a mean pore diameter of 100 Å. The heat capacity of the melting region has been investigated as function of the pore filling by employing the quasi-adiabatic technique. The noncritical specific heat and the entropy of fusion are identical to the bulk state after correcting for a dead layer of adsorbate on the pore walls, which amounts to about 25% of the pore volume.
