Electrical conductivity in dense plasmas

Abstract
The electrical and thermal conductivity are determined in linear response theory taking
into account the transport of free electrons and hopping between bound electron states within a
partially ionized plasma model. The theory is applied to dense fluid hydrogen as well as to aluminum
plasma. Possible mechanisms for the observed metal-nonmetal transitions are discussed.
