Abstract
This paper describes the development status of a receiver system for solar air preheating of gas turbines. The system consists of modules of 350 kW nominal power, each built from a pressurized volumetric receiver and a secondary concentrator. It is designed to couple multiple modules together to obtain the required power. A brief description of the components construction is given. In a first test phase the secondary concentrator was evaluated for performance. About 90 h of solar operation were collected with maximum power levels exceeding 400 kW. The design goals were successfully demonstrated, minor problems occured with mirror glueing. Significant cost and efficiency improvements could be achieved by more sophisticated geometry and new manufacturing techniques. Tests of a complete module are planned for July 1998.
