Abstract
Micromechanisms of fracture and fatigue crack growth resistance in specific Ti3Al based and TiAl based intermetallics are reviewed. Effects of test temprature, environment and microstructure on crack growth resistance are considered in detail for several Ti3Al and TiAl based intermetallic systems under development. The implications of these studies for the structural reliability of these materials is also addressed briefly.
