Abstract
In the field of old recordings restoration. we compare two interpolation methods in order to remove degradations causes by impulse noises. The first one, worked out by Janssen et al, is the adaptive interpolation. The autoregressive mode1 on which it is based, is assumed to be a good mode1 for the signal. The second one based on wavelet transform has been developped by using an orthogonal function base. The interpolation is performed not on the signal but on the wavelet coefficients. In the present paper we evaluate and compare these methods in terms of objective criteria. The database used for the evaluation consist in real and synthetic signals with different signal to noise ratio corresponding to many situations encountered in the field of old recordings restoration.
