Abstract
The paper presents a consistent method for modelling the changes in macroscopic parameters produced by material and impurity modified surfaces. The method, based on the surface fluctuation waves techniques of lattice displacements, is structurally suited to accommodate a variety of conditions existing at real surfaces, including inhomogeneity through the depth and topographic irregularities. The resulting model formulation provides a basis for an interpretation of the observed surface wave propagating properties and is especially useful to obtain SAW velocity dispersion.
