Abstract
The growth-rate and the modes of dynamic plastic necking instabilities for a biaxially pulled plate are calculated analytically. The material is supposed incompressible and elastoplastic, and it obeys the Mises yield criterion. The yield-stress follows the SCG model. The mass and momentum conservation laws are linearized by supposing that the ground flow perturbation has low amplitude and high growth-rate. The velocity perturbation is decomposed into Fourier modes. The results of the analysis agree with the results of Shenoy and Freund for a uniaxially pulled plate [1].
