Abstract
The ultrasonic infrared (UIR) thermography is a novel effective nondestructive testing technique. However, in some experimental systems, the UIR images are always blurred and hashed because the surface of the sample is smeared or inhomogeneous, and/or closes to other heat resources. Particularly when some defect signals are very weak, the defect signals will not be extracted. According to three characteristics of the heat transfer at the defect, a robust method for information recognition is used to automatically find the regions of defects from the UIR images.
