Abstract
The deformation morphologies and mechanisms of (001) microtwinning in the stress induced martensite in the Ti-Ni-Nb alloy
tensioned to different extents at its parent phase condition have been investigated using Conventional Transmission Electron
Microscope (CTEM) and High Resolution Electron Microscope (HREM) observations. It had been found that (001) microtwinning
plays an important role in both the coalescence and reorientation of martensite substructural bands. The corresponding micro-mechanisms
were discussed.
