Abstract
A novel experimental configuration comprising a peripherally clamped, centrally supported, blast loaded circular plate is presented. In addition to the data obtained from conventional blast tests, this configuration allows the initiation and duration of the various phases of the plate response to be clearly discerned. A central support, in the fonn of a Hopkinson bar, allows high resolution data to be captured during a blast event. This test configuration can provide experimental data in sufficient detail to serve as a validation test for numerical simulation codes, according to the guidelines set forth by Krauthammer et al.
