Explosion protection reconstruction design in two CaC 2 powder processes

Abstract
The explosion protection reconstruction design of two calcium carbide powder processes is presented in this paper. An acetylene explosion accident occurred in one process is reported. The equipment and process flows of two calcium-carbide producing plants are introduced. Explosion risk assessments of the two product lines have been analyzed. Combined explosion protection method had been applied including ventilation, dust collection, inerting, venting and isolation.
