Abstract
A dynamic constitutive equation of simple form was presented. Series of experiments were conducted for various types of materials to verify the proposed equation. From the investigation of experimental data it was confirmed that materials could be resolved into various groups according to different dependence of strain rate sensitivity on flow stress and also inelastic strain. Comparison between experimental data and numerical simulations concluded that the equation well predicted the flow stress in the strain rate range of 10-4 to 105/s-1, temperature range of up to 713K, provided that a quasistatic stress-strain curve at a reference temperature only was given.
