Abstract
A direct current linear motor was designed and built to act as the plunger in a pice carrying fluid. In this motor the moving part comprises two parallel armatures the cores of which are made of square mild steel bars. Two mild steel plates attached to the ends of these bars complete the magnetic paths. The stationary part of the motor holds the high energy NdBFe permanent magnets which act as the field source. The theoretical and experimental values of efficiency, power, thrust, acceleration and speed of this motor have been obtained.
