Magnetic aging of 80% Ni Mo permalloy
G. Couderchon and D. GautardImphy S.A., 58160 Imphy, France
Abstract
Magnetic aging is observed on 80% Mo Permalloys. Aging of these alloys is due to carbon and is similar to the magnetic aging reported for a long time on iron based alloys. However no carbides were observed in Ni Fe alloys. In order to limit a possible magnetic aging of these alloys in devices which can warm up in operation it is wise to heat treat the samples in hydrogen or to use special quality alloy with low carbon.
