Abstract
We report X-ray magnetic circular dichroism measurements performed at the MIV, V(U) edges of the ferromagnet USb0.5Te0.5. The data have been recorded in fluorescence mode at beamline 6 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility. The two dichroic signals are positive indicative of a strong orbital magnetic moment. From the measurements we estimate the z projection of the orbital angular momentum 〈Lz〉. We find 〈Lz〉 = - 3.0. Our result is discussed in relation with published polarized neutron data.
