Abstract
The figures of merit for synchrotron radiation storage
rings are discussed. The machine functions, defining the particle beam
characteristics, are then overviewed. Some lattice configurations, optimised
for synchrotron storage rings are then presented. The talk will also touch some
problems and solutions related to particle beam stability and
lifetime.
