Abstract
No quantitative spectrum of optical penetration in graphite-epoxy has been so far reported. Transmission and reflection techniques are inefficient or do not give absolute values. We used three methods to compute the absolute optical penetration spectrum from the photoacoustic signal obtained from a graphite-epoxy composite sample. The spectra obtained in the infrared band of 2.5 to 25 µm are presented. The experimental results are also compared to those of a theoretical model.
