Abstract
Positron lifetime spectra are usually analyzed with three exponentially decaying components, para-Ps (positronium), free positron and ortho-Ps. However, a fourth component was obtained in many liquids. We reported the first results of the inhibition of the fourth component by CCl4 in hexane and proposed a model. We show that the effects of several electron and positive ion (hole) scavengers, such as CS2, C6F6, SF6 and pyridine on the fourth component are successfully explained with this model.
