Abstract
In spite of the ability of the photopyroelectric (PPE) technique to study phase transitions, some drawbacks appear when working with solid samples. The troubles introduced by the coupling fluid layer used to guarantee the thermal mismatch between sample and detector, and the effect of the complex crystal structure of some new magnetic materials are analyzed in this work. Procedures to overcome them are also given.
