Abstract
The implementation of a high resolution photopyroelectric calorimeter for the study of thermally inhomogeneous liquids is reported. The set-up allows the application of electric fields to the sample and a spatially resolved (approx 100 m) simultaneous measurement of the specific heat, the thermal conductivity and the thermal diffusivity. The thermal parameters of bulk liquid crystal samples and colloidal dispersions of nanoparticles in liquid crystalline compounds have been investigated.
