Abstract
The X-ray structure and the magnetic properties of a new
bpca-based complex are discussed, bpca
- being the
bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)aminate anion. The bimetallic [ Cu(bpca)
2]
[ Co(hfac)
3] complex crystallises in the triclinic space group P-1. Its
structure exhibits well separated segregated stacks of [ Cu(bpca)
2] and
[ Co(hfac)
3] entities. Within their respective columns the Co and Cu
centres are separated by 11.52(9) Å, implying that the material does not
evidence the desired ferro- or antiferromagnetic interactions.
