Recent applications of FT-IR/PAS in surface science

Abstract
Catalysis, an integral part of surface science, is an extremely important phenomenon for our modem industrial economy. More than 90% of all chemicals and materials are produced using catalysis at one stage or another. Optical spectroscopy techniques, including Fourier transform infrared photoacoustic spectroscopy (FT-IR/PAS), always played an important role in the characterization of surfaces and interfaces, as they permits the direct monitoring ofphenomenon ofthe reaction/process occurred. Our concem in this paper is to present a principal bases of FT-IR/PAS and catalysis, and selected examples of recently published papers in area of surface science where mentioned technique was successfully applied.
