Superconducting switch for high power pulse antenna excitation

Abstract
The electric properties and frequency bandwidth of radiation of miniature magnetic-dipole antennas excited by the time-domains, which generate an ultrafast switch made of high-Tc superconductor YBa2Cu3O7 thin film, were investigated. The superconductor switch was incorporated into a current-biased contour of metal-printed antenna and triggered by 14 ps laser pulses. Amplitude, duration, and rise time of the electric pulses, which generates magnetic-dipole antennas driven by laser-triggered superconductor switch, were investigated as a function of the voltage feeding the antennas. The applications of the superconductor switch for a jitter-fiee excitation of highpower magnetic-dipole pulse antennas, which radiate ultra-wide-frequency-band signals in GHz frequency region, are discussed.
