Abstract
The purpose of the present work was to compare the well-documented results of experiment on steel panels subjected to blast loading, carried out by Houlston and Slater [1], with the explicit finite element analysis (ABAQUS/Explicit [3]). This study was undertaken in order to evaluate the capacity of load modelling in ABAQUS/Explicit in a case of extremely high velocities of deformation. Several conclusions regarding the applied algorithm were also provided.
