Abstract
The International Workshop on Dynamics in Confinement addressed many aspects of the dynamics of confined fluids. Theory, computer simulation and much experimental work were presented. With one exception, the actual behavior of materials in confined geometries does not follow a simple rule, e.g., mobility increasing as size decreases. The range of contradictory results is similar for theory and, particularly, simulation. One challenge to be emphasized is the need for general theories and computer simulations of sufficient detail that the parameters that are expected to lead to changes in liquid behavior in confinement can be systematically explored. This note summarizes some major recurring themes that surfaced throughout the workshop.
