Abstract
Integration of solar generated saturated steam into a waste heat recovery boiler of a combined cycle power plant is an attractive option to introduce solar thermal power plants to the market place with a low technical and financial risk. Since the amount of solar generated steam may drastically change with time because of changing insolation conditions, an adequate control system must be applied to the recovery boiler in order to keep the steam conditions at the inlet of the turbine constant. A transient numerical model was set-up to analyze this problem. Based on the numerical results an optimized control strategy is proposed.
