Abstract
Measurements of magnetic circular dichroism (MCXD) at the Ce LII and LIII edges have been performed from CeFe11Ti and CeFe5.5Ga6.5 both ferromagnetic compounds. The recorded MCXD signal is presented and compared to earlier reported results [1] on other intermetallic. A significant magnetic moment of 5d origin has been observed, the magnitude of which being very sensitive to the change in the Ce environment. An estimation of the 5d magnetic moment is derived from the measurements. The observed MCXD signal is discussed at the light of macroscopic magnetic properties that are reminded. A magnetic EXAFS of large amplitude is observed on all the studied compound. The comparison of the MCXD spectra at the LII and LIII edges shows that the signal is typical of a mixed valence state of Ce.
