Abstract
We have measured (e, 2e) energy spectra in cadmium in the 4d95s25p J = 1 autoionizing region. The incident electron energy was 150 eV and the momentum transfer was K ≈ 0.2 a.u.. Differences in spectra taken at ejected-electron directions 180° apart were due to interference terms arising from coherent excitation of J = 1 and J = 0, 2 autoionizing levels and J = 0,2 continua. Ab initio spectroscopic calculations were carried out which enabled the extraction of relative excitation magnitudes and phases from the experimental data. The results are compared with PWBA calculations.
