2-Cyano-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1 H-imidazol-1-oxyl-3-oxide as key compound for preparation of nitronyl and imino nitroxides

Abstract
A series of nitronyl and imino nitroxides: amides
2, 13 (NN-C(O)-NH
2, INC(O)NH
2),
iminoethers 3a,b, 15 (NN-C(NH)-OR (R = CH
3,
2-Pr), IN-C(NH)-OCH
3), carboxylates 4, 14a-c
(NN-C(O)-OK, IN-C(O)-OX (X = K
+, (
n-Bu)
4N
+)), and paramagnetic
tetrazoles 5, 7-12 were synthesized from
2-cyano-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1
H-imidazole-1-oxyl-3-oxide
(NN-C
N). The crystal and molecular structure was determined for all
compounds except 4, 14c, and 15.
