We report on new effects of magnetic field on the low-temperature heat capacity C$_{\rm p}$ of the quasi-1 D compounds o-TaS3 and blue bronze Rb0.3MoO3. C$_{\rm p}$ is very sensitive to the application of a subsequent field B of a few 0.1T, which brings the system into a new, slightly higher energy state exhibiting hysteretic behaviour in magnetic field. Moreover, the new remanent zero-field state, very stable against field excursions for ${\rm B}<6{\rm T}$, can be annealed only at temperature close to T $_{\rm
