Optimization of Yb 3+-doped inorganic crystals for laser applications

Abstract
We present the growth of several Yb
3+ doped crystals by various methods. We compare their laser performances with a theoretical model based on measured spectroscopic
parameters and valid in CW regime. We have found that our evaluation differs from De Loach [1] in the nanosecond regime.
