Abstract
The (C2H10N2)[ Mn2(HPO4)3(H2O)] and (C$_{\rm n}$H $_{2{\rm n}+6}$N2)[ Mn3(HPO3)4] (n= 2-8) compounds were synthesized by using mild hydrothermal conditions under autogeneous pressure. The phosphate and phosphite phases show a layered structure with the alkyldiammonium cations located between the sheets. The emission and excitation luminescent spectra are in accordance with the presence of Mn(II) high spin cations in slightly distorted octahedra. The magnetic measurements of both kinds of compounds indicate the existence of antiferromagnetic interactions.
