Abstract
Compton tomography is an expérimentai technique that can be used for obtain a spatial map of the electronic density of samples.
However. in order to obtain quantitative results the reconstruction algorithm must keep into account the absorption of the
incident and scattered radiation. Some specialized algorithms have been proposed in the literature, however in most cases
the quality of the reconstructed images is still poor, and cannot be used for quantitative measurements, especially
in strong absorption condition. In this paper a recently developed reconstruction algorithm is described. This algorithm accurately
reeonstructs the electronic density distribution from Compton measurements and it can be applied both to monochromatic and
polychromatic beams. Some results are reported hère and discussed.
