Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the new laser source developed in C.E.L.I.A (Centre Lasers Intenses et Applications) and its possible applications in photophysics. The duration (some tens of femtoseconds) and the intensity (up to 20 mJ/pulse) of the primary pulses lead to generated high order harmonics photons pulses at a 1 kHz repetition rate. Since the primary wavelength of the amplified laser chain is centered around 800 nm (1.5 eV) (Ti : sapphire oscillator), that means that X-VUV intense photons pulses with the same duration can been obtained ; many interesting applications are then possible particularly in solid state physics concerning the study of the dynamic of the electronic relaxation. Scintillator materials are good candidates in this topic and we present here the first experimental results about time resolved studies of sintillation with picosecond resolution in the VUV range.
