Abstract
A plasma under the influence of strong electric field shows a nonlinear current which is lowered by the relaxation effect describing the influence of screening on the motion of particles. While this is known as Debye-Onsager relaxation effect in hydrodynamical approximation, the kinetic theory allows to consider different scenarios. Approximations are discussed which reproduce the hydrodynamical result as best as possible.
