Abstract
In this paper, we prove that the total macroscopic deformation energy may be decomposed into two parts, namely, elastic energy due to external stress in the absence of transformation and internal interaction energy induced by transformation. We prove that internal interaction energy is a second order polynomial function of volume fraction of martensite lattice corresponding variants, and the total number of independent coefficient in this polynominal function is not more than the number of martensite lattice corresponding variants.
