Abstract
Magnetomechanical damping (MMD) and mechanical Barkhausen
noise power (MBP) of NO and GO Fe-3%Si strips under torsional stress (frequency = 1Hz)
are studied as a function of the major axis direction with respect to the rolling direction (θ = 0°, 23°, 45°, 55°, 67°, 90°).
For all orientations, NO strips show a relatively high MMD while MBP is always small ; for GO strips,
only θ = 55 ° gives significative magnetomechanical effects showing the participation of 90°
domain walls which should perform large Barkhausen discontinuities. These magnetomechanical
effects are signifïcantly influenced by the glass film on the GO strip surfaces.
